Plus, I wanted to ask how on earth you have just 60 kids and 3 teachers? That sounds SO nice!EmBellishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00349904133039996358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9067208550306577321.post-52444666196844862972012-04-21T10:01:51.368-07:002012-04-21T10:01:51.368-07:00Hey Julie - My school just started using the NWEA ...Hey Julie - My school just started using the NWEA Map tests too. I teach first grade this year, and I really like the feedback the test provides! Plus, it's so nice not to have to administer all of the paper-book tests. This year I've broken the kids into small reading groups and we focus on skills and reading based on my own observations of their needs and the Map test feedback... I also try to plan whole-class instruction based on where the greatest chunk of my kids fall, and even some whole-class instruction targeted to my highest-scoring students. I taught at a private school and their philosophy was teach to the top, and the other kids will rise up to it. ? But I'm still very much open to ideas, so I loved this post.

Emily
will you check out my blog?
Tangled with TeachingEmBellishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00349904133039996358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9067208550306577321.post-67328771158782017232012-04-18T14:54:29.365-07:002012-04-18T14:54:29.365-07:00For some teachers, it is hard to share because the...For some teachers, it is hard to share because they feel so responsible for their "own" kids' learning. We use a variety of assessments: DRA and IRI building wide, phonological assessments pre-k-1, and Acuity for grades 3-5.
Lori
Conversations in LiteracyLorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14511344892381128298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9067208550306577321.post-49738003301271721632012-04-17T20:33:41.563-07:002012-04-17T20:33:41.563-07:00Thanks for finding me Krista! We don't want to push them into it because it's what WE want even though they might not be ready! :)Juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01992369365034263003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9067208550306577321.post-85072287332950114872012-04-17T19:53:53.920-07:002012-04-17T19:53:53.920-07:00Thanks so much for sharing your ideas. I loved the data that this test provides within a short period of time. ( Our school did just finish up a pilot through NWEA of the common core standards test.) I am a new follower. I too teach 3rd grade.

Krista
stellar-studentsAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16698207028277372638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9067208550306577321.post-11700624548598108442012-04-17T19:11:29.150-07:002012-04-17T19:11:29.150-07:00I've got small groups in my room.
